Jess Lee (she/her) is a director, screenwriter and script supervisor based in Montréal, Canada. She began her film career making music videos and promo spots for Montréal's independent arts and culture scene before moving into film and TV.

Her 2017 short film Sweet Affliction is a queer coming of age comedy about unacknowledged romantic tension between siblings adapted from writer Anna Leventhal's short story "Gravity".  It screened at numerous international festivals including Montréal' Image + Nation LGBTQ film festival where it won the Prix du Public award.

Jess’ sophomore short, LANDFILL is a character comedy following an elder butch dyke dying of environmentally induced cancer and her unusual notions of legacy. The project is produced alongside Art et Essai, set to premiere in 2024.

She has directed and produced music videos for artists such as Lesbians on Ecstasy, FOXTROTT, Elle Barbara, Mx. Holmes, Heathers and experimental works which have been showcased internationally.

As a script supervisor she has worked in collaboration with dozens of accomplished directors on CBS' Ghosts, NBC's Transplant, CW's Republic of Sarah as well as many feature and short films including Jeff Barnaby's Blood Quantum.

Currently, Jess is developing a feature mockumentary about a group of maladjusted children's theatre actors with playwright Katherine Cullen and an historical fiction entitled Hot Summer Nights.

In a life before this, she co-owned and operated Montréal restaurant/venue Le Cagibi, organized a lot of gay events, and ran a taco stand which Céline Dion has been rumored to frequent.
